Regardless of what you’re hoping to achieve, if you’re not getting there it’s usually for the same set of reasons….
It typically has little to do with natural talent, intelligence or connections.
Usually it has more to do with:
- Bad Habits
- Incorrect Mental Wiring (This can be fixed)
- Lack of Passion for Your Goal
- Lack of Commitment
Sure there are other things, but these are probably the main ones.
Blaming outside circumstances or saying that you are lacking certain traits is typically an excuse you use to allow you to continue being lazy.
Bad Habits
How often do you actually work on your goal?
If your goal is more money, what are you doing every day to get more money?
Are you working more hours? Are you getting more education or working on a certification? Are you actively building a business and not just reading about it?
If your goal is to get in better shape, what are you doing?
Are you eating good foods? Are you eating junk foods? How many hours a week are you exercising?
If your goal is to have more friends or more romance in your life, what are you doing for that?
Are you making an effort to meet more people? Are you working on self improvement and building your charisma? Are you learning about social dynamics and then applying it in the real world?
What habits do you have to reach your goals? A habit is something you do EVERY SINGLE DAY. Or at least 6 days a week.
Bad Mental Wiring
Now I’m not talking about genetic defects, chemical imbalances or head injuries.
I’m talking about your beliefs, habits of thinking and also habits in general. Habits tend to form pathways in our brains which make keeping them easier over time.
Do your beliefs support your goals?
Do you really believe that exercising and eating right will get you in the shape that you want to be in? Do you really feel it? Do you feel it while staring at that cupcake?
Do you believe that it is possible for you to make more money? Do you believe that taking action can lead to you creating a successful business?
Do you really believe that you can have more quality friends? Do you believe you can have the romantic life that you want? Do you believe you have a shot if you approach that guy or girl at the bar?
If you don’t believe that you can do these things, then you probably won’t take much action to achieve them.
Science has shown that we can rewire our brains, but it takes work, repetition and commitment.
Lack of Passion
To achieve truly great things you have to be passionate about what you’re doing. You have to be obsessed about it.
You might be saying to yourself “Are owners of successful cesspool and garbage companies passionate about poop and trash?”
Maybe they’re not passionate about poop and trash, but they are passionate about business. They are passionate about customer service, hiring the right people and making profits.
Passion is the driving force that puts a spring in your step to do what needs to be done.
It gets you up in the morning, reminds you to do the right things and causes you to do those right things even when you’re tired.
Passion is the fire in your belly that makes miracles possible.
Commitment
Are you truly committed to achieving your goals? Or are they just things you would prefer to have?
Is not taking the right actions unthinkable?
Is it okay to eat a ton of junk food or miss a gym day or two?
Is it okay to watch hours of television instead of working on a business?
Is it acceptable to be sitting home on a Friday or Saturday evening when you’re lonely and would love to have some romance in your life?
Either you’re committed or you’re not.
Commitment is necessary to goal achievement.
If you focus on the four items above and keep at them you are most likely going to succeed at whatever it is you want.
Will you be the richest person in the world? Maybe not, but you’ll have more than enough money to do what you want in this life comfortably.
Will you be an Olympian or underwear model? Maybe not, but you can get in really good shape.
Will you be dating billionaire super-model Nobel Prize winners? Maybe not, but you can be dating extremely attractive people that you have great chemistry with.
So if you’re not where you want to be it probably isn’t because you’re dumb, have bad genes or weren’t born with a silver spoon in your mouth.
If you’re not where you want to be it probably has more to do with you having bad habits, bad mental wiring, a lack of true passion and very little commitment.
How interesting and rewarding do you want your life to be?
Are you willing to do what it takes to get it?
Until Next Time, Stay Interesting.
All the Best,
D
