Irrelevant

Whether You Feel Like Doing Something or Not is Irrelevant – Just Do It!

Interesting people have a lot of things they would like to do, need to do and should do.

Just like anyone else they can procrastinate, get distracted and even feel lazy at times.

None of this matters though.

If it’s something that you should do, need to do and/or would like to get done in your life YOU SHOULD DO IT!

People pussy-foot around taking correct actions all day, week, month and year.

Most people do it for their whole lives.

This doesn’t get you to where you want to be.

This doesn’t build the life you want to have.

Sometimes we are too hard on ourselves.  Usually we are too soft on ourselves.

Rather than holding your own little hand and telling yourself it’s okay to put something off, suck it up and just do it.

Feelings of laziness, weakness and hesitation are IRRELEVANT.

What matters more are the longer term goals; the bigger payout.

It’s okay for normal boring people to put things off endlessly.  They’re not doing anything interesting either way…

But if you want to live a truly INTERESTING life you need to get in the habit of action.

I recently read about this idea of irrelevant feelings in a book by Jocko Willink.  If you don’t know who Jocko is you should listen to some of his interviews or read some of his stuff.  He was a Navy SEAL for a number of years and spent time as a soldier, a leader and a trainer.

Jocko Willink Irrelevant

His no-nonsense approach to life comes from years of in-field experience.  His thoughts are battle tested under the toughest and most intense conditions.

You can find his book “Discipline Equals Freedom” by clicking here

The book is a short easy read, but its pages are full of GOLD.

I plan to do a review on it here eventually.

Negative feelings/habits/thought patterns like procrastination, distractibility, laziness, irrational fear, anxiety, misprioritization and any other similar ones do not serve us well.

They should not have a say in how our life unfolds.

Their pull on your mind should be IRRELEVANT.

Don't listen

Really… Think about it.  How much weight and control do these negative emotions have on your life?

How often do you allow them to make choices for you?

What is the price you pay for this?  What is the price that your friends, family, loved ones and your future self pay for this?

Why do they get any say?

They only bring you negative results; pain, sadness and mediocrity.

Imagine how much better your life would be by not listening to them.

If these thoughts, emotions and negative thought patterns were actual people you’d want to punch them in the face!

Luckily you don’t have to punch anyone. (Don’t punch yourself either)

irrelevant

Ignore them.

Don’t give them a seat at the table.

Seriously, why should they be running your life?

boardroom

Next time you find yourself in a position where you know you SHOULD do something, but find yourself somehow justifying NOT doing it, remember who’s boss.

The things holding you back are IRRELEVANT.

Feeling a little tired?  IRRELEVANT

Don’t know where to start?  IRRELEVANT

Do it some time in the future?  IRRELEVANT

Not in the mood to do what you need to do? IRRELEVANT

These things are holding you back in your life.

Mentally slap them in the face, disregard them and DO THAT THING.

don't listen to negativity

Over time your life will get better and better from doing this.

Your life will be much more interesting and rewarding.

Not Living an Interesting Life?

IRRELEVANT

Until next time, Stay Interesting,

All the best,

Way too many people worry too much about the action they’re about to take. They always try and come up with a plan and try to sort everything out before they even take the first step. That’s what truly kills most dreams, the inability to say f-it and just go for it.

    Excellent post! ?

Yes, exactly. They are looking for a “perfect plan” which almost never comes and end up doing nothing.

      Thanks for your input!
